Tuesday 29th January 2013

We got set with the task of creating a little piece that shows a really tense situation, that conveys a switch in emotion and then back to it being really tense between each character in your group and then one person can make one sound or say one sentence.
I was in a group with Sam and Rosie and I came up with the idea of us waiting in line at a public bathroom for the toilet and we are all desperate to go.

But building it up slowly, walking in one by one and not giving too much away as to where we are. Starting off really small with our movements and then gradually it getting worse the longer we are waiting. The change in emotion is when someone comes out of the toilet and as we all go to step forward somebody else cuts in line and gets there first. So the tension is really high as we now annoyed that someone has cut in front and were still waiting, we finally got to the toilet and my sound was a sigh of relief.

I really enjoy exercises like this because they are so simple yet so effective, to begin with our group thought we were at the train station, whereas others knew we were in the bathroom. I like not to give everything away at once hence us not making it so obvious in the beginning. I think these exercises are really beneficial because they make you think about how something so small can be so effective as it gradually gets built up.

It was also Sam's Auditions, she gave us certain characters from the play and got us to act it out, swapping and changing different characters.
