Today was Josh T audition for his self director's piece, he gave us a brief on what pieces he is looking to do and that he is mainly basing it on the work of Dario Fo. The one piece that is for the girls is called The Rape which is from Dario Fo and he said that he really wanted to tell a message with this piece.
I read over the first page of the speech and at first I found it quite easy to read and even the second and third time they were more like descriptive words. But once Josh got me to read it and feel more of the emotion you see it more for what it is and that this stuff happens all the time, it's real. Once I finished reading I didn't even realise how tense my body was whilst I was reading it, I was sitting down so my legs just locked together, I was gripping onto my left arm so tight that I didn't notice until I stopped reading. It was a very weird experience to not be aware of how something can affect you, all the women in the group struggled to read this because we can all relate as this speech comes from a female perspective and emotional experience.
